On 27th October 2009, PDIL was awarded the First Gas Mechanical Completion Certificate by MOL Oil and Gas Company; after successful completion of all available facilities to start commissioning of the project. Commissioning was commenced immediately afterwards and production of 120 MMSCFD processed gas started from the plant and is continuously being fed into SNGPL main export line. As of December 2009 the production from the plant has been ramped up to 175MMSCFD. This is one of the biggest milestones of the project as it also contributed in managing the country’s increasing energy needs, especially at the start of winter season.
In order to celebrate this momentous and auspicious occasion On the 11th of November 2009 a ceremony was held at the Prime Minister’s Secretariat chaired by the Prime Minister of Pakistan Mr. Yousuf Raza Gilani to celebrate the inauguration of the Manzalai Project. A Hungarian delegation led by Gyorgy Mosonyi, CEO, MOL Group especially travelled to Pakistan to attend this event. PDIL was represented by Mr. Khawar Khan, CEO and Mr. Gouhar Sharif, Head Projects.
The following day on the 12th of November 2009 the Site inauguration was held at the Manzalai Project Site. The Chief Guest at the inauguration was Mr. Ameer Haider Hoti the Chief Minister of NWFP. Later, the chief minister formerly inaugurated the plant. Speaker Provincial Assembly Karamatullah Khan, ANP provincial President, Afrasiyab Khattak, provincial ministers, Hungarian Ambassador, MPAs and other high officials were also present on the occasion. The ceremony was also attended by the entire PDIL project team.
On the 13th of November 2009 MOL Pakistan hosted a reception at the Serena Hotel Islamabad. PDIL was represented at the reception by Mr. Khawar Khan; CEO, Mr. Gouhar Sharif; Head Projects, Mr. Samad Goraya; Head BD & Proposals, and Mr. Rizwan Khan; Manzalai Project Manager.
A reception was also hosted by PDIL at the Descon’ Head Quarters at Ferozepur Road, Lahore in which the staff of Consortium partners and group companies, HOD’s, CEO PDIL, CEO Descon Engineering Ltd and the Chairman Mr. Razzaq Dawood participated.
